Columbus Ohio Criminal Court Records

Misdemeanor, traffic and felony cases follow different paths.

Start with Municipal Court or Common Pleas based on the case.

Use the docket identifier to follow a transferred or indicted matter.

A felony may have municipal filing activity and a separate Common Pleas case.

For Municipal cases, use Search Records on the Municipal Criminal/Traffic Clerk page to find the case, then save its number and the document or disposition needed. The clerk cannot run a defendant-wide record check by telephone. Request identified Municipal documents from the Criminal/Traffic Clerk at 375 South High Street, second floor, Columbus, OH 43215; use 614-645-8186 for request guidance and specify whether certification is needed.

The Municipal Clerk’s currently linked public-records policy lists paper copies at $0.05 per page and certified copies at $1; emailed or faxed documents have no charge. Ask the clerk to confirm the charge for your particular certified-copy request. A certified court record bears the clerk’s certification and seal; an online case summary or a notarized document is not the same product.

For a Common Pleas felony, use the County Clerk’s Case Information Online route and request the identified document through the County Clerk Public Records Request Form, specifying the felony case number, document and whether you need a certified copy. The General Division schedule separately lists $0.10 per copied page and $1 per certified document; confirm the total with that clerk. Do not apply Municipal fees or send the Common Pleas request to the Municipal Clerk.
